Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 years since the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and introducing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
The preview reveals Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
